Everyone has dreamed of being a top secret agent, like the next James Bond. A suave demeanor, a cool car and fancy, almost sci-fi like, gadgets and all the undivided attention of everybody in the room. Putting your life on the line for every mission but always coming out unscathed. Sadly they don’t hand out secret agent jobs at the unemployment office. It is supposed to be a secret after all. However, you can live out parts of that dream in amazing virtual reality in the hit game I Expect You To Die.
In I Expect You To Die, you are a secret agent, fresh from training and armed with telekinetic powers. The mission is to stop the evil villain Zoraxis by going on a string of adventures. This may sound fun, and gameplaywise it is, but it can prove to be a tall order. Many agents before you have tried and failed on these missions, dying in the process. This is why the person who gives you these jobs encourages you but also says to you “But, to be perfectly honest and with all due condolences, I expect you to die.”
You will be set on five missions in total, ranging from a car, that is in an airplane to a ski lodge. The missions all have clever code names that I think you might find interesting. Operation friendly skies, Squeaky clean, Deep dive, Winter break and First class, which is from the free dlc. On them you will have to think quick, be clever and most importantly, be inconspicuous. Like any good secret agent should be. You will be faced with all sorts of puzzles and challenges, so put on your best spy shoes and good luck!
I Expect You To Die is an amazing experience that will might only have five levels but is well worth the bill. It is clever, unique and really set a golden standard for VR games when it came out, back in 2017. Check it out on Steam. And don’t forget that the only high tech gear that you will need is either a HTC Vive or an Oculus Rift.
