We’ve looked at VR games that combine the tower defense and shooter genre, but what about a wave shooter with some tower defense elements. Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you Magic Gun. A simple game about shooting monsters and protecting your stuff. Due to it being fairly straightforward and short, there’s not that much you can talk about it, but why not take a look at it anyway.
When you start a level in Magic Gun you’ll find yourself on a high platform with a couple of obelisks in front of you. The road that leads to them delivers constant waves of monsters that you have to kill. If the reach the obelisks they will attack and damage them, and I don’t think I need to explain why that’s something you don’t want to happen.
In front of you there are three glowing orbs of magic. A fire one, an ice one and a rapid fire laser one. I know the last one represents light, but I’m still calling it laser magic, which is even technically correct. By shoving your guns into the orbs you’ll charge them with magical energy. When charged with fire your bullets explode and deal high damage to an area, great against groups. Ice makes targets freeze for a short time, great against strong and fast monsters. Lasers are like regular bullets, fast and many, but now they glow as well, great against flying enemies.
There are also upgrades you can buy between waves. They can be for a variety of things, like increasing the health of the obelisks, increasing the charge and shooting speed of the gun, making your bullets faster and more damaging, and more.
Magic Guns is a fun little game that’s perfect for kids or if you want to kill some time and don’t have much else to do. It’s simple, but it’s all it needs to be and for a price as low as 3,29€ it’s practically a steal. If you are interested you can check out the Steam store page here.
