In Sairento VR you transform into a deadly cyber ninja. This is a mission-driven, VR action game set in a re-imagined Japan in the near future. You are a member of the Silent Ones – a righteous but covert organisation of seemingly ordinary people. You practice the long forsaken code and martial arts of the ancient ninjas. In this first-person VR you can expect awesome weaponry, intuitive controls, challenging levels and menacing enemies.
Make no mistake, even though you are a ninja you are also skilful with guns and projectile weapons. Sairento VR aims to set a brand new standard in the VR realm. In order to be a ninja you need to be light on your feet and be able to defy gravity. In the game you do exactly that by running on walls whilst taking out enemies with a katana. However in most games these experiences cause nausea in many players because of the constant mid-air flips and 360 turns. But Mixed Realms made sure this doesn’t apply to their game. Your ninja skills will be smooth and won’t make you dizzy.
Teleportation is the main way to move. The teleportation is more like dashing through air and great for dicing enemies. Teleportation at a long distance will allow you to do a variety of jumps again mid-air. Also it can take you to a higher place you want to go or you can do a cool wall run.
Cut your enemies down with blade beams or simply do it the old fashioned way. Blast them to smithereens with good old fashioned guns. Demolish them with explosive arrows. The weapons in the game are dual pistols, two Katana blades or a sub-machine gun. All of which you can access from your hips, shoulders or back. As you progress you’ll unlock more guns and upgrades and you can customise your fighting style with shotguns, rifles and more. Keep upgrading your abilities and weapons as you accumulate experience from completing missions.
Of course we can’t forget locomotion. In Sairento VR the locomotion system works by walking or running, leaping 15 feet into the air, performing multiple jumps, power sliding across the floor and performing back flips like only a true action super star could. Engage enemies using innovative combat system, allowing you to fight in slow motion and parry incoming projectiles like a boss.
Sairento VR is a cool ninja-simulator, and the flaw it has is a technical issue. Something very common is putting your head through the ceiling during jumps. And also I should mention there were occasions where I fell through the map. On one side we have the smooth jumping, shooting and slicing, and on the other hand we have a hell of a mess in the menu. I mean guys come on, why are there so many things in the menu. You can easily miss what you are looking for. And scrolling through the menu options uses the same stick that turns you around, and it can be very confusing.
My last thoughts are that Sairento VR is worth your time and money. It’s a blast to dice and shoot robot ninjas while they look so helpless in slow-motion. There are so many abilities and weapons that the entertainment becomes bigger.
