Amazing VR Archery Game: Apex Construct

The first and so far only game from Fast Travel Games, Apex Construct is a wonderful VR only game. A futuristic VR archery game, playable on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It is also playable with Windows Mixed Reality, Valve Index and PS VR. Go through a post-mankind world, inhabited by robots and get to the bottom of what caused humanity’s extinction.

The Story

The story of Apex Construct takes place in a world where almost all organic life on earth is extinct. As far as you know, you are the last living human being on the planet, which has been taken over by robots. There are two powerful factions of Artificial Intelligence that are locked in an eternal battle for power. The source of all robots is an entity with the codename Mothr. It’s up to you to find out what happened to the world and all of its organic inhabitants by exploring the world’s secret areas and solving intriguing puzzles.

Your weapon of choice.

As I’ve said before, there is no weapon that feels cooler to use in VR than a bow. And this is by all means a VR archery game. You use a cyber bow and shield combo which you can upgrade to do all sorts of cool stuff. Aiming and shooting feels nice and there is nothing better than sniping an enemy with an arrow to the face from across the level.

Although Apex Construct is technically a single-player VR archery game, it does have a multiplayer element to it. You can test your skills in the Cygnia Cup Challenge. An archery range that will push you to your limits and test out if you have what it takes to get to the bottom of the mystery of this world. Your score is kept and displayed on the global leaderboard, so you can see how well you stack up against the other players. There are also achievements that are used as somewhat of a status symbol for how good you are doing.

Apex Construct is an amazing experience that is well worth checking out. And it is not hard to check out since it works on pretty much any VR headset for PC and for PSVR. Apex Construct also makes sure that you don’t get motion sickness by implementing a wide variety of movement options. Teleportation is the safest bet, but there is also full locomotion including direct movement with smooth turning. Check out the Steam page.
